I am one of millions of people who are victims of the lousy economy. Laid off from a decent paying a job, out of work for a year and mounting bills. Like a lot of us who did find jobs, the pay is a lot less than what we are used to. Mine is less than half of what I was making even when working over 50 hours a week, weekends and holidays.

So I've been looking for ways to earn extra money to supplement my ordinary income. There are hundreds of thousands of websites, blogs, videos, etc...with great and some not so great or legitimate info. It's been a dizzying process trying to evaluate all this info. I don't really believe those that say they are making millions and have quit their day jobs, but I do believe that some extra income is possible. I will continue to add new ways and/or improve on some of the ways already listed so keep checking back here. Good luck!!

2) PAID SURVEY SITES - There are tons of these. Self explanatory. Just join the site and take surveys. Payment varies depending on the length of the survey. Sometimes they will even send you a product absolutely free to test and then pay you for your feedback. Some surveys in addition to earning cash rewards will also enter you automatically into sweepstakes to earn even more. Earn more money by referring other people who can sign up under your custom link.

3) FORUM POSTING - You can make money by using myLot.  This is an online community that pays you to post on forums. You make money by replying to other peoples discussions or by starting your own. There are rules so peopel just can't spend their boards. Your postings must be if good quality too. They have to be at least 3 sentences with proper spelling and grammar. The better and more interesting your post is, the more responses you will get and the more money you could make. They do not post any formal information about how earnings are calculated, but quality is definitely considered. In addition to posting, you can alos make money by completing simple tasks that fellow myLotters have posted. You can also set up your own task that you could use to promote your own business or website. Another way to earn is through referrals. You will receive 25% of each referral's earnings. It's simple and fun to participate.  

4) OFFER SITES - These are sites that pay you to browse, click on ads or videos or complete offers, polls, clip coupons, play games, etc. Earn more money by referring people. (I think I've heard that before).

5) SELL YOUR OLD STUFF - You all know you have extra junk laying around your house or apartment just collecting dust. Why not sell it for some extra cash? Craigslist is a free, easy way to do this. Just list your items and wait for responses. The pros about Craigslist are that it's free and it's a cash transaction. The cons are that most likely people will be coming to your home to make the transaction and all the time wasted on no-shows.

Sell used books online

Cash4Books is a great little site to sell your unwanted books.You can even print out the shipping label yourself and ship for free.  And oh yeah...earn $7.00 for each referral that registers and sells at least 1 book.

Powell's Books is also very good and buys backs more books than other sites.

DealOz is a site that will search book buyback sites for you. Just enter your ISBN and let DealOz find the offers. Just choose which offer you like, hit the sell button and you will be taken directly to the book buyers site. Earn money with referrals for all these sites.

6) YOUTUBE -  Yes, you can make money from YouTube by posting videos. The videos MUST contain original content. Making money on YouTube is an easy process. 

You will need to sign up for a YouTube account and upload videos. Making the videos is probably the hardest part of this process, but there are some easy tools for doing this. The key component of making money is signing up for a Google AdSense account.  The simplest definition of AdSense is: it's a free CPC (cost-per-click) advertising program that allows publishers (anyone wanting to put ads on their websites) to insert a small amount of HTML into their sites and have ads appear that are targetted and relevant to the content of their site.  After installing the ad code in your site, the Adsense spiders will crawl your site to see what your pages are about. They then check their inventory of ads and put related ads next to each of your articles. You make money from page views and if visitors click on the Google Ads.

In the case of YouTube, you won't need to know any HTML or insert the code. You simply will choose which videos from your Video Manger screen that you would like to monetize and follow the steps that will link it to your Adsense account. Literally takes minutes to monetize. It's that simple.

Now you are probably asking what kinds of videos you could make. This is entirely up to you. Just use some creativity and remember the content MUST be original. Some ideas: how to videos, funny videos of friends, family or pets, vacation videos (you can even set your still pictures to a video format). Tap into your hobbies and interests. The more views your videos get, the more money you make.

Since I mainly just put these videos up because they are hobbies of mine, they haven't gotten much promotion. As you can see, they have gotten a good amount of views even though they haven't been promoted. Imagine what they could do with proper promotion.
